A surveillance video from a nearby restaurant may be the key to the Ouellette Avenue fire that damaged at least four businesses on Monday, said Windsor police.

The video evidence has prompted fire and police officials to rebrand the investigation as an arson case, and police are asking the public for help in identifying two suspects allegedly seen entering the massage parlour just before it "went up in flames", said police.

Fire officials believe the Gossip Massage Parlour, formerly called Elite International Massage, was where the fire started.

Fire crews responded to a fire at 6:25 a.m. on Monday that took all day to put out. The fire spread to adjacent properties and caused an estimated $2 million in damage.

A combined investigation by the the Ontario Fire Marshal and the Windsor Police Arson Unit has determined that the fire was set deliberately.

Witnesses also described two men acting suspiciously outside of the massage parlour shortly before the fire started, said police on Wednesday.

According to police, the video footage showed the suspects entering the alcove of the massage parlour carrying a box. Shortly after, they were seen running north on Ouellette Avenue to Park Street, followed by a flash at the massage parlour entrance. Smoke and flames then engulfed the building, alleged police.
